About Break:

Nobody chooses the family or circumstances they are born into. At Break we firmly believe that with the right care, there is no limit to what can be achieved.

We work across East Anglia with children and young people on the edge of care, in care and leaving care. Whether you’re interested in working in our residential homes and short breaks for children with disabilities, our pioneering Staying Close Staying Connected project or vital essentials like our family assessment centre and wraparound care offer, one thing is universal: you’ll be joining a team of passionate and dedicated individuals who want the very best for the young people they care for.

Why Break?

At Break we invest in the future of our staff just as we do for the young people in our services. We strive to provide the highest quality of care, so whether you’re just starting your career in children’s social care or are already qualified, you’ll be supported, recognised and rewarded for your essential part in our vital work.

About the role:

As a Break Team Leader you’ll be playing a vital role in the outcomes for young people in Break’s services. Your energy and passion to see young people thrive will be at the heart of your work to lead, guide and support your colleagues to create fun and inspirational shifts for the team and young people to be part of.

In the first 12 months you’ll have formed strong relationships with the young people you work with and their family and carers. You’ll know what their strengths and wishes are and will have put in place plans to help them achieve their dreams. You’ll know where opportunities lie for the young people you work with outside of the service you work in.

Your role at Break is fundamental to letting children know and believe they can be whoever or whatever they chose to be, no matter their start in life.

You’ll be self-motivated, a brilliant communicator and able to bring enthusiasm and fun to your work. You’ll also be able to work calmly under pressure and be resilient enough to cope with challenging emotions and behaviours.

In your role, you’ll have access to the following benefits:

  • All travel time and travel expenses are covered by Break (up to 45p per mile)
  • Free, career-enhancing qualifications
  • A “golden hello” scheme welcoming you to our services, with £250 paid to you one month after your start date and a second £250 at the six month mark.
  • A referral scheme offering the same two payments as the golden hello if you recommend a contact who goes on to be employed by Break.
  • Access to the Blue Light card scheme (joining fee reimbursed)
  • A free counselling service to all our employees.
  • The opportunity to influence Break’s strategy and direction through the Staff Consultation Forum.
  • Life assurance to the value of 3x your annual salary.
  • Enhanced sick pay.
  • Free flu jabs.
