Part Time

Suffolk Independent Living

Closing Date: 10/12/21

I am a bright, bubbly five-year old girl who loves Frozen, unicorns and making art! I’m looking a friendly carer to look after me at home while I’m asleep at night.

We are seeking a warm, reliable and professional person to work waking nights. The shifts are from 9.15 pm until 7.15 am, there will be a minimum of one night per week.

**Job location is currently in Beccles but will move to Loddon from March 2022**

Our daughter has a rare respiratory condition and requires ventilation via a face mask at all times when asleep. The post will involve ensuring the correct positioning of the mask and ventilator operation, taking observations, basic hygiene care and record keeping.

This is an excellent opportunity to develop some advanced clinical complex care skills.

We are looking for someone who will be able to withstand long (often uneventful) waking night hours, as staying alert and responsive to our daughters needs is crucial. They will also need to be reliable and dedicated to the post, good at interacting with children and able to respond well under pressure.

We are hoping that the candidate will have some experience in childcare and/ or medical care, experience of working nights and some flexibility on the days and number of shifts covered. For the right candidate, all training will be provided.

About You

You will need to be able to work to instruction but, also be self-directed as once you have completed the training, you will be lone through the night. It is crucial that you feel able to stay awake and alert during what can be long and uneventful nights. You will display an attitude, approach and willingness to learning that means you will feel rewarded within the role. There is no smoking in our home, and you will need to be from a non-smoking household.
