Job Purpose
Location: King’s Lynn, PE30.
Details
I am looking for a Personal Assistant to support my daughter with all daily living tasks, promoting her independence and social skills, and encouraging my daughter to access meaningful activities in the community.
My daughter is a capable young woman attending college who is eager to experience opportunities outside of the home that will allow her to develop her independence skills. As she has a learning disability and is deaf, it is important that she is able to have these confidence-building experiences safely and under supervision.
Duties to include:
·      Support with accessing the community and taking part in meaningful social activities, hobbies and clubs outside of the home.
·      Support with attending appointments as necessary.
·      Encouraging ‘S’ to develop skills such as using public transport and using money.
·      Ensuring ‘S’ is making use of the home safely and behaving safely when out in the community, e.g. using cooking appliances and road safety awareness.
·      Encouraging ‘S’ to identify and take part in volunteering opportunities of interest.
·      Providing prompts, support and encouragement for ‘S’ to complete general household tasks.
·      Any other reasonable duties as required.
Person specification
Listed below are the skills, competencies and qualities that are essential and desirable for the post. My assessment of these, both on application and at interview, will be the main factor in determining if you are successful. Please refer to these when submitting your application.
Essential
  • Previous experience working in a role supporting someone with a learning disability.
  • Able to communicate using BSL.
Summary terms and conditions
  • The rate of pay for this position is £12 per hour
  • You will be reimbursed for any agreed expenses incurred as part of the role
  • Hours and times of work: 10 hours per week, typically working 1pm-4pm on Wednesdays and Fridays, and 1pm-5pm on Saturday afternoons.
The post is subject to the following
  • A satisfactory enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check, the cost of which will be covered by the employer.
  • Satisfactory references from two referees, one of which must be your current or last employer.
  • Completion of a satisfactory probationary period of 3 months.
