Personal Support Assistant for young man in Norwich
Hours: 27 per week (flexible)
Salary: £13 per hour
Job Purpose: I’m a bright, cheerful young person who loves to get out and about on the days when I’m not at college. As I’m a full-time electric wheelchair user with a complex medical condition which occasionally requires use of a ventilator. I require your assistance to access the activities I enjoy.
Details: Your role will involve accompanying me on trips into Norwich driving my wheelchair accessible van. I enjoy meeting friends going out for lunch, shopping, attending events, and visiting the games café and the cinema. I also enjoy getting out and about in the local area. I require assistance with toileting and with all transfers using a hoist. I need some assistance with meals, such as cutting up of food etc. If it’s too wet to go out, we may spend some time at home playing the Xbox, watching movies etc. and you may need to assist me to prepare some lunch and clear up afterwards. My care also includes all aspects of personal care, including toileting, all transfers are managed with the use of a hoist.
Person specification:
- Fun, lively and sociable.
- Respectful of my wishes and happy to be led by me.
- Confident and dependable.
- Able to use a hoist
- Full clean UK driving licence preferable to enable you to drive my wheelchair accessible van.
Hours and times of work: Up to 27 hours per week, mainly to be worked daytime on Mondays Tuesdays and Thursdays and occasional Saturdays. Some flexibility will be required to accommodate any changes to my college days, and extra hours may be available during college holidays.
Position is subject to a probationary period of three months and a satisfactory Enhanced DBS check, the cost of which will be covered by employer. Funding for the role will be transferring to another department in a few months but it is expected that the successful applicant will transition with this.
