Job Purpose

 

Personal assistant required to support a lady with both physical and mental impairments, who suffered a brain injury following a serious driving accident.

 

Location: Near Methwold, NR26

 

Details

Carer will be required to provide support with all daily living tasks including personal care, domestic cleaning, admin tasks, food preparation and other general duties as required. ‘D’ is a happy, young at heart lady who enjoys playing board games and card games, so a shared interest in this would be a bonus. A patient and understanding manner will be required as ‘D’ has a poor memory and repeats herself multiple times a day. It is also important to note that ‘D’ suffers from epilepsy, and while this is medically under control, the event of a seizure can never be ruled out. No previous experience necessary as workplace training will be provided, however, a genuine interest in social care is essential.

Duties to include:

  • Providing personal care including but not limited to bathing, toileting, brushing teeth, dressing and undressing.
  • Driving an adapted automatic vehicle as necessary.
  • Domestic cleaning and keeping home clean, safe and tidy.
  • Accompanying to and providing support at outings as necessary including hospital/doctor appointments and shopping.
  • Supporting with wheelchair use, an overheard hoist and a sling throughout the day.
  • Completing a daily diary of important personal and/or medical events, including bath times, catheter changes, seizures (if any).
  • Preparing food and providing support at mealtimes.
  • Administering medication.

Essential

  • Female carer required due to the sensitive nature of personal care
  • Flexible with regards to working hours as you may be on a rota with other carers
  • Bubbly, outgoing personality
  • Warm, friendly disposition with the desire to work closely with the family
  • Full clean UK driving license
  • Aged 25+ (for car insurance purposes)
  • Comfortable working in an environment with pets
  • Patient and understanding manner
  • Non – smoker

 

Summary terms and conditions

  • The rate of pay for this position is £11 per hour
  • You will be reimbursed for any agreed expenses incurred as part of the role
  • Hours and times of work: 25 hours per week with the occasional Saturday, Some early starts (7am) some late finishes (9pm) exact times to be discussed further at interview.

 

The post is subject to the following

  • A satisfactory enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check, the cost of which will be covered by the employer.
  • Satisfactory references from two referees, one of which must be your current or last employer.

 

Completion of a satisfactory probationary period of 3 months.
