Role Description for Home Care Assistant
We’re looking for Home Care Assistants to care for our clients with compassion & diligence. Our home care jobs in Norwich are about providing the services you’d expect in a care home in somebody’s own home. You’ll help people with daily tasks such as personal care, dressing, meal preparation and medication. We’ll give you full training but this is mostly instinctive – it’s about treating people the same as you would your own family members and ensuring their wellbeing and safety. You’ll be the first person to pick up on illnesses and other issues and we guarantee you’ll make a difference in somebody’s life from day one. You’ll often be one-to-one with our clients and you’ll find you get more time with each person than you would in a care home.
Key Responsibilities
As a Home Care Assistant with Nouveau Care, you’ll be the healthcare worker who sees our clients most often. This means you’ll often be the eyes and ears of the healthcare system. You’ll pick up on illnesses or infections or even just changes in mood and report them so the correct intervention can be made. As well as supporting with daily care tasks, you’ll be vigilant for abuse and neglect and anything else that might affect a vulnerable adult in the community.
Your key responsibilities as a home care assistant include:
- Domiciliary care and support
- Promoting independence
- Personal care support
- Medication support
- Meal preparation
- Home support tasks
- Dementia and Alzheimer’s support
- Stroke recovery support
- Providing palliative care
- Learning disability support
- Mental health support

Having a driving license and access to a car is essential for our full time home care roles since you’ll need to travel to different addresses throughout the day. It’s possible to work part time without transport on foot, by public transport or by bicycle for example. Since our home care jobs can involve working in pairs, it’s also possible for you to be paired up with a driver for certain shifts.
