Job Purpose: You will be supporting X, a happy, smiley, friendly boy who loves numbers, outdoor play and anything to do with food (play food, cooking, looking at recipe books etc.). X has a diagnosis of autistic spectrum disorder and learning disability, resulting in communication, sensory and personal care needs, no awareness of danger, and some challenging behaviour at times.

Details:
  • Sometimes collecting X from after school club in your own vehicle (there is some flexibility with pick up time), and taking care of him and entertaining him until his mum is available to take over. Possible occasional collection at normal school pick up time (e.g. if the pandemic causes after school club to close). Lots of free parking is available outside X’s home.
  • Supporting X on trips out, both longer days out to family attractions and shorter trips, such as to the shops, library or cinema. Until you have built a rapport with X, his mum will accompany you.
  • Some personal care tasks such as toileting, putting on coat and shoes, and changing clothes when necessary.
