Engage Norfolk is a local, independent provider of high-quality, person-centred social care to individuals of all ages with a range of disabilities and additional needs across King’s Lynn and West Norfolk.

We are looking for individuals to join our team on a casual basis, primarily supporting children and young adults with learning disabilities and/or autistic spectrum conditions across the King’s Lynn and West Norfolk area. The nature of this Service User group means that sessions will primarily take place during the evenings and weekends and increased uptake during the school holidays. Individual Service User needs vary, however, the main aim of this service is to support the individual to access their local community, participate in hobbies and interests and above all have fun!

You will deliver personally tailored care and support to all your Service Users across all aspects of daily living. This may include personal care, medication management/administration, support with behaviour, and support to access the local community, education and training opportunities, and participate in hobbies and interests. Throughout all the support you provide, you will work to promote the independence of your Service Users, enabling them to enjoy the life they want to live.

KEY DETAILS

  • We pay a standard base rate of £10.20 per hour, however, face-to-face time with Service Users may be eligible for enhancements (up to £12.48/hr) depending on the level of need and skills required.
  • This is a casual position to support Service Users primarily during the evenings, weekends, and school holidays on an as-required basis.
  • We pay our standard base rate for all travel time between Service Users (plus mileage), admin and training time.
  • A full UK Driving License, Business Insurance and a suitable vehicle for work use are essential as you will be required to travel between Service Users and may be required to transport Service Users during sessions (all mileage and travel time paid).
  • Prior experience in community care and confidence in your own abilities is essential in this role as you will be working on a 1:1 basis in a community setting.
  • Any specific training required to support a Service User will be provided, however, prior experience and knowledge of Autistic Spectrum Conditions and/or Learning Disabilities are essential in this role.
  • Prior experience of challenging behaviour and specific communication approaches (i.e. SignAlong, Makaton, PECs) would be beneficial.
  • Position is ideal for those working as Teaching Assistants (TA’s) in SEND schools looking to pick up extra hours outside of school times and school holidays.
